Filming on "Riddick", the third film featuring Vin Diesel's anti-hero, looks to be starting again shortly after being postponed due to financial issues last month.

TMZ reports that the Montreal studio, whom shut out the cast and crew after studio owner Michel Trudel complained he hadn't gotten paid, has now received their due funds.

As a result Trudel is willing to allow the film to pick up production where it left off. Several members of the crew however still require pay checks, but those are expected to be delivered shortly. Filming on the project will resume on December 28th.

Yesterday there was a lot of buzz via photos of a Pez dispenser mock-up that seemed to show the design of Rhys Ifans' post-transformed The Lizard, the villain in the upcoming "The Amazing Spider-Man" reboot.

Today however comes something much clearer - what is said to be leaked concept art of what the character could look like from Spidermedia.Ru (via Coming Soon). The art looks like the character did in the Comic-Con clip, though the scale is a little different.

David Ayer / Al Pacino in Scarface

Another day, another remake (or whatever this is). Deadline is reporting today that Universal has hired screenwriter/director David Ayer, who last directed Street Kings with Keanu Reeves and is working on cop drama End of Watch, to write the new version of Scarface. You may remember a couple of months ago we wrote about Universal firing up a new version of Scarface that will not be a sequel or remake, whatever that means. Ayer doesn't shed much light on how that works, saying the film put a contemporary spin on the outlaw tale, but that's about it. Marc Shmuger at Global Produce is producing along with Martin Bregman. ...

Asa Butterfield / Ender's Game

Briefly: Following up news that Hugo star Asa Butterfield had been offered the lead role in Gavin Hood's Ender's Game sci-fi adaptation, confirmation has now arrived, in two forms. Butterfield himself took to his own twitter (@asabfb) to celebrate, stating, "Oh yes. Im really doing it. F*** YEAAA!!!" after tweeting "battle school, here I come" and a few good Ender Wiggin quotes: "Welcome to Dragon Army." Then Variety followed up with confirmation as well, saying he has "closed a deal to star as the title character" in the film, being produced by Roberto Orci & Alex Kurtzman, as well as Odd Lot Entertainment and Summit. A Warrior's Heart Trailer

Oh this is a good one. Not really. Since there's not much else to feature, today's Indie Trailer Sunday is for a teenage sports drama for the sport of lacrosse, you know that one with those sticks, called A Warrior's Heart. Best of all, it stars everyone's favorite actors - Twilight's Kellan Lutz, Twilight's Ashley Greene, Glee star Chord Overstreet as well as Gabrielle Anwar, William Mapother and Adam Beach, who looks to be the only one putting in a good performance. It looks immensely cheesy but if you love lacrosse (or LAX), which I actually used to play, you might find this interesting. But boy does it look terrible. Enjoy!

Newlyweds Trailer

"We need to get as far away from any of our relatives as possible." Perfect for Thanksgiving week, right? An official trailer has debuted on Apple for the film Newlyweds, a new indie romantic drama starring and directed by Edward Burns, who you may recognize as an actor, but has been a director for a while as well. It's a drama about newlyweds, obviously, who get disrupted by Burns' half-sister, learning what it means to be married in the process. The cast includes Caitlin FitzGerald as his other half, Linda, Kerry Bishe as the sister, plus Max Baker. This looks rather quirky and entertaining for an indie, so give it a shot. Enjoy!

Ice Age: Continental Drift - Scrat

He's back for more! We're all certainly familiar with Scrat, the lovable prehistoric saber-toothed squirrel who's obsessed with acorns, that is a key part of the marketing for Blue Sky Studio's Ice Age movies. Hitting next summer is Ice Age: Continental Drift, the fourth movie in the animated franchise, and Fox has unveiled the second Scrat short in high def via Apple to tease this movie. This new one is called Scrat's Continental Crack-Up Part 2 and is a continuation of the first Scrat short teaser we posted earlier this year. It's another fun two minute short, so if you want some Scrat hilarity to brighten your day, here you go!

Journey 2: The Mysterious Island

"I am going to show you something that will take your breath away." As there aren't any other new trailers to watch this weekend, here's the latest international trailer for New Line's Journey 2: The Mysterious Island, the 3D sequel to the cheesy CGI adventure movie Journey to the Center of the Earth. We already got an official teaser trailer for this a few weeks ago, but this new trailer is much more serious and intense, there's not a lick of comedy in it (thankfully). Journey 2 stars Josh Hutcherson, Dwayne Johnson, Vanessa Hudgens, Luis Guzmán and Michael Caine as "grandpa!" If you're interested, view it below.

New ‘Immortals’ TV Spot Slams ‘Twilight’

via /Film by Germain Lussier on 11/21/11

On a weekend like this, even your grandmother knows what’s going to be the big winner at the box office. Various experts are all predicting The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 1 will soar over $100 million and maybe even reach $150 million, putting it somewhere between second and fourth all time. (The Dark Knight at $158 million is second and The Twilight Saga: New Moon at $142 million is fourth.) With around $30 million from midnight shows alone, Bella and Edward are well on their way.

When a movie so dominates the box office like that, it means collateral damage: sold out shows and people clamoring for other films. For the family’s there’s Happy Feet Two and, for the men, there’s last weekend’s surprise box office champion, Tarsem Singh’s sword and sandal action film Immortals. The team behind that movie created a very targeted commercial urging men to check out their film over the vamps and you can see it after the jump.

Thanks to JoBlo for this video.

I think that’s pretty self explanatory, don’t you?

Having not seen Immortals yet, I can’t rightfully compare its quality to The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 1 however, I have seen that film and it won’t take much to be better. Plus, Immortals not only has the action for the guys, it has way more shirtless men than Twilight does for the girls.

Here’s a particularly fun piece from Russ’ review of the film last week that gives a good idea of what to expect of Immortals.

The violence is some of the most grim and painful I’ve seen in a major film. It rarely crosses into ‘mean.’ More often than not it is like Sony’s God of War games come to digitally bloody life, and so over the top that it doesn’t imply pain so much as disbelieving cries of ‘holy shit!’ But there are ugly moments, to be sure. Any guy sensitive to ball-bashing should beware.

Will you see Immortals over Twilight this weekend?

‘The Expendables 2′ Poster: Just Call it ‘EX2′

via /Film by Russ Fischer on 11/18/11

I don’t have any belief that The Expendables 2 is likely to be the movie I hope it will be. After the first movie, I’m not even convinced that this sequel is fated to be a solid action movie. But magic can happen. While we wait to see any footage from the movie that Simon West has been directing in Bulgaria, here’s a poster that also acts as the best collage of aging action stars you’re going to see this year.

I can easily see some young action fan having made a similar version of this poster by collaging stills in the late ’80s or early ’90s. This one really ups the ante with leather, flying dirt and a lot of thousand-yard (well, maybe 400-yard for some of those guys) stares.

Check out the full poster below. Update: image has been removed at the request of the studio.

[Removed at the request of Millennium Films.]

Dammit, that makes me want to see the movie. Here’s what we know about The Expendables 2:

Sylvester Stallone is joined by Jason Statham, Jet Li, Dolph Lundgren, Terry Crews, Randy Couture, Jean-Claude Van Damme, Chuck Norris, Liam Hemsworth, Bruce Willis, and Arnold Schwarzenegger. They will all punch and/or shoot things. As the poster reveals, there is also at least one woman, Nan Yu, in the movie. She will evidently also shoot and/or punch things.
